Ameraucana are a hardy bird with a solid build, pea comb and no wattles which make them hardy in our cold Canadian climate.
They have a beard and muffs arguably making them one of the most adorable chickens on the homestead (our kids love them).
All of our Ameraucana have a friendly, calm and underfoot type temperament. They fit well into backyard flocks, they are great for children and novices as well as the experienced large fowl fancier.
Our Wheaten and Blue Wheaten lines run together, this means that when you hatch eggs or bring home chicks you will have a mix of Wheaten and Blue Wheaten chicks. You will not receive Splash Wheaten chicks as we do not breed for the splash wheaten colour.
Both of our Wheaten, Blue Wheaten lines produce a lighter shade of blue egg sometimes with a greenish hue.
Our one Wheaten, Blue Wheaten line is slower to mature than the other with males especially slow to mature.
We do have a limit of half a dozen hatching eggs for this variety per order this 2026 season.
Large Fowl Blue Wheaten (1984) and Wheaten (1984) Ameraucana fall under the “All Other Standard Breed” (AOSB) class of chicken and are recognized by the American Poultry Association.
See our Ameraucana Page for more information.
