We feed an organic all flock feed and rotate our flocks for free ranging.
We do not heat our facilities. Being on a lakefront property, we use wind breaks to protect our birds from the cold lake winds. This is crucial for our Marans and Silverudd's, which have large single combs. We find that frostbite is less common when the birds are shielded from the winter wind.
No. We do not vaccinate our own personal birds or chicks that hatch here on the farm. We maintain a flock which has spent years building a natural immunity to environmental stressors. We also maintain strict bio-security measures to keep our flock disease free.
We have implemented a new program for our poultry and have taken to testing our flock every 120 days (to ensure our flock is clean and clear) of the following transmittable diseases: Mycoplasma Gallispectum (MG), Mycoplasma Synoviae (MS), Marek's disease, and Infectious Coryza
