Ameraucana are a hardy bird with a solid build, pea comb and no wattles which make them hardy in our cold Canadian climate.
They have a beard and muffs arguably making them one of the most adorable chickens on the homestead (our kids love them).
All of our Ameraucana have a friendly, calm and underfoot type temperament. They fit well into backyard flocks, they are great for children and novices as well as the experienced large fowl fancier.
Self-Blue more commonly known as Lavender Ameraucana display a smooth single toned lavender colour throughout their plumage, with black shanks and toes and fluffy Lavender muffs and beards. Both of our Lavender lines lay beautiful blue eggs with one line laying a nice bright blue and the other a slightly lighter blue. Our one line is a little quicker to mature than the other, we also still see the odd bird with discoloured feather shafts.
We also breed lavender splits. If you are interested in splits for your breeding program contact us and let us know what you are looking for.
Large Fowl Self-Blue (2020) Ameraucana fall under the “All Other Standard Breed” (AOSB) class of chicken and are recognized by the American Poultry Association.
See our Ameraucana Page for more information.
